Today, it’s hard to believe that it was the norm to view men as the thinking, rational sex and females as the emotional powerhouses. By this logic, men do not have emotions, which is far from the truth. Sadly, in Nigeria and in many parts of the world, boys are still brought up to not “cry like girls” or to “be a man” when they show signs of emotional breakdown. Of recent, the negative effects of discouraging men to show their emotions have been explored and thankfully, this form of toxic masculinity is being rightfully condemned.
