26 Apr Seven pillars that will transform your life
Whether we are working, driving a car, living in a mansion, there are certain things we must do to live a transformed and better life. These are seven (7) important pillars that will transform your (or a person’s) life. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:7 ‘Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding’. It is therefore important to get wisdom for every situation.
FEAR OF THE LORD Proverbs 9:10 says that ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding’. This does not mean being afraid of God but to reverence him. God is a loving father who wants to pour out Himself to us, He also seeks to correct us when we go astray. Making a decision with the fear of God enhances a better life.
KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD: Proverbs 18;13 ‘He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him’ this explains that before taking a decision concerning a matter, get your facts. Know the word of God and meditate on it.
SEEKING COUNSEL AND GOOD DISCIPLINE: Before making any decision, seek counsel and advice from others because you do not know it all. Don’t walk through life believing you have all the answers. Proverbs 11:14 says, ‘For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers’.
FORESIGHT: This is the ability to look beyond the immediate situation and just like the other pillars, this should be applied in all situations. Don’t get stuck, let the Holy Spirit guide you. 2Peter1:21 ‘For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit’.
ACCEPTING CORRECTION: Correction is essential for personal development and under normal circumstances, whoever corrects, does so out of love. So, do no hate correction because even the Lord corrects us. Proverbs 3:11 encourages us ‘My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction.
SELF CONTROL: James makes us understand that self-control especial in trying times makes us better. He says, ‘My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience’.
RELATING WITH OTHERS: Do not go through life in isolation. Learn to relate to others, no man is said to be an Island. In a bid to relate with others we have to be careful of the company we find ourselves. Proverbs 13:20 ‘Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
