Jesus, the revolutionary.
Matthew 4:19.
Why was Jesus’ ministry so different? Aside from the miracles and wondrous signs, Jesus was an average status Jew from a humble background with no political agenda. But somehow, he was a threat to the government of his time from the minute news of his birth surfaced. He led multitudes and influenced the hearts and minds of so many in the world, even till this day. So why is he such a phenomenal leader? Jesus revolutionized the meaning of good leadership, showing us that it is not rulership but rather a relationship.
He showed us that leadership is a form of intimacy wherein the leader is to open up his or her life to those around them to see and emulate. He showed us that good leadership was about transparency, humility and wisdom in dealing with all manner of men. He knew the right thing to say/do in different situations in order to help people understand the core principle behind his ministry, which is Love for God the Father and Love for your neighbor.
Unless we ourselves are first transformed, we cannot be transformation agents in our homes or communities. This was what Jesus relentlessly worked to achieve during his time on Earth. He laid down God-prescribed teachings that helps us to be transformed in our thinking. This is the only way he can turn fishers of fish to fishers of men.
